Pollphail

2009, 11 mins, color, UK (with Hungarian subtitles)
D: Matthew Lloyd

Creative documentary painting a startling portrait of a village in limbo through the eyes of a property dealer and an artist who share an obsession with the strange place. The director explores the imagined future for the village, built to great acclaim and expense during the 1970s oil boom. Combining unusual use of archive with stunning photography and a haunting soundscape, the film unravels the unique and unsettling history to reveal a very different future than was planned for Pollphail, and clashing ideals about how its life should now play out.
